How I Became a Successful Chef
As a first-generation Italian-American woman from Brooklyn, NY, I practically grew up in the kitchen. My mom made home-cooked meals every night, and I was always by her side. Her mom (my nonna) taught me how to make fresh pasta, and my father's mom (granny) taught me how to bake.
It should come as no surprise that I eventually found my way to culinary school. I attended the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City where I earned my degree in Culinary Arts. From there, I went on to cook in restaurant kitchens, both locally and in Sardinia, Italy. I've also worked on recipe testing and development, food styling, writing, catering, teaching, and even cooking on TV. Nothing makes me happier than when I'm in the kitchen.
